Forza Horizon 6 Won’t Launch on PC — Fix Checklist (2026)
FH6 stuck on splash or won’t start on Steam? Driver, SSD, firewall, and integrity checks in order. Updated for the May 2026 PC launch.
If Forza Horizon 6 won't launch, crashes at the splash screen, or closes immediately on PC, work through this checklist in order. Most launch issues are drivers, permissions, or corrupted files—not a broken game install.
Quick checklist
- Confirm you meet minimum specs (Windows 10 22H2+, 16 GB RAM, SSD, DirectX 12 GPU).
- Update GPU drivers (NVIDIA App or AMD Adrenalin — clean install if needed).
- Verify game files (Steam: Properties → Installed Files → Verify).
- Run the game as Administrator once.
- Add FH6 to Windows Firewall allow list.
- Disable overlays (Discord, MSI Afterburner, GeForce overlay test).
- Install Xbox Gaming Services and sign into the Xbox app.
Steam-specific steps
- Right-click FH6 → Properties → General → ensure launch options are empty unless support advises otherwise.
- Under Controller, try Disable Steam Input if you crash after the intro (see our FHE01 guide).
- Move the install to an SSD if it is on a slow HDD (required for stable streaming).
Microsoft Store / Xbox app
- Open the Xbox app → Settings → General → enable background apps.
- Reset the Microsoft Store cache:
wsresetin Run dialog, then reboot.
Still won’t launch?
- Delete shader cache folder (backup first): check Steam community for the current path for your build.
- Temporarily disable antivirus for one test launch.
- Check Forza Support — game not launching for official steps.
Note: We do not recommend cracked or leaked builds. Playground Games has issued hardware bans for unauthorized copies.
